EN 590 - 10 PPM - Gasoil

Key Properties EN 590 - 10 PPM Diesel Fuel

Key Properties of EN 590 Diesel Fuel

Sulfur Content: Maximum 10 mg/kg (or ppm) to reduce emissions and protect modern diesel particulate filters.
Cetane Number: Minimum 51, indicating good ignition quality.
Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) Content: A mandatory blend, typically up to 7% by volume, although national legislation can vary.
Density: Between 820–845 kg/m³ at 15°C.
Viscosity: 2.0–4.5 mm²/s at 40°C, ensuring proper lubrication.
Flash Point: A minimum of 55°C, indicating fuel safety.
Carbon Residue: Maximum 0.3% on the 10% distillation residue.
Water Content: Must not exceed 200 mg/kg to prevent corrosion and microbial growth.
Lubricity: A maximum wear scar diameter of 460 µm (HFRR) to protect fuel injection systems.
Purpose and Use
Automotive Use: EN 590 is the standard for road diesel, used in passenger cars, lorries, vans, and road-going agricultural vehicles.
Environmental Performance: The ultra-low sulfur content significantly reduces harmful emissions from diesel engines.
Engine Compatibility: The specification is designed for modern diesel engines, particularly those meeting Euro 6 standards.
Seasonal Considerations
The specification includes different Cold Filter Plugging Points (CFPP) for summer and winter grades to prevent fuel gelling in cold temperatures. Winter grades require lower CFPPs, with specific regional requirements.

Key Properties

  • Optimized Engine Performance

The ultra-low sulfur content minimizes the risk of deposit formation, allowing fuel injectors and engine components to operate at peak efficiency. This results in smoother engine operation, improved responsiveness, and sustained power output.

  • Enhanced Fuel Efficiency

By enabling a more complete and efficient combustion cycle, this fuel helps to extract the maximum amount of energy from every drop. This leads to measurable improvements in fuel economy, reducing operational costs for commercial and industrial users.

  • Superior Environmental Compliance

This fuel meets the stringent Euro V/VI emissions standards. Its clean-burning properties drastically reduce emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx) and particulate matter (PM), making it an environmentally responsible choice for modern diesel engines equipped with advanced after-treatment systems like Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF).

  • Maximum Engine Protection

The purity of EN 590 - 10 PPM Gasoil protects sensitive fuel system components from corrosion and wear. This extends the life of the engine, reduces maintenance frequency, and ensures long-term operational reliability.
